WHAT WE DO

Part Time COO provides professional Operations and Management to businesses that need a COO yet are not ready or able to hire one full-time.  We believe that all businesses can benefit from increases in efficiency, better strategic planning and the implementation of a more formal management approach.  Services that we provide include:

  • One and Three Year Strategy: work with executive leadership to define the strategic goals and then to put in quarterly plans to achieve them

  • Organizational Management: evaluate the current organization and plan to develop future groups to meet and surpass strategic goals

  • Key Performance Indicators: identify KPIs needed to achieve strategic goals and implement systems to track and report on progress

  • Performance Analysis: gather key data points and combine them for analytic insights and metrics such as TTM, RPE, CPL, CPC and others

  • Process Documentation: identify the key processes that need to be understood and followed by all; document them and develop methods for communicating and supporting them

  • Personnel Review Management: develop and implement systems for evaluating and providing feedback to all personnel and develop career tracks

  • Systems Review: analysis of current systems with a focus on current and future deficiencies, identification of enhancements or replacements, project management for upgrade implementation

  • Vision Statement and Core Value development: work with executive leadership in a workshop format to define the mission and purpose of the business and communicate it to the entire company

HOW WE DO IT

Part Time COO seeks to help businesses to scale, grow, increase profitability and to surpass the expectations of all of the company stakeholders.

Engagement Types:

  • Project Based: Work on a defined project with a firm Scope, schedule and deliverables

  • Part-time:  Integrate Part Time COO into your team – without having to bring on a full-time resource

  • Retainer Based:  Part Time COO to work on projects as part of the team for a fixed number of hours per week


Engagement Methodology:

Each business is unique; Part Time COO does not use a templated, “one size fits all” approach.  Each engagement is tailored to the exact needs to the company.  To do this we follow a consultative methodology:

  • Discovery: includes interviews with executive leadership, stakeholders and key personnel; extensive review of planning documents, reports, financial statements, marketing materials, sales collateral and other materials

  • Scope Definition: a definitive and comprehensive description of the engagement including schedules, engagement type, deliverables, roles and responsibilities and fee structure culminating in a Statement of Work or Engagement Letter

  • Engagement: conducted using Project Management methodologies including weekly status reporting, progress reporting and dashboards

WHO WE WORK WITH

Part Time COO is not a perfect fit for every business.  Any consultant who claims to be all things to all businesses is probably nothing to any business.  Our best companies have the following things in common:

  • Desire for significant growth: metrics like double revenue every three years may seem impossible but for many businesses all it takes is planning and execution to do it

  • Willing to make changes: businesses that understand the old adage: “what was good enough to get you there isn’t good enough to keep you there” know that they must embrace change.  Change means opportunity

  • Core competencies in place: businesses that already have the technical expertise, patents, equipment or facilities


Things that are less important to being a good fit:

  • Revenue or phase of life sweet spots: Part Time COO does not define good matches with phrases like: “post start-up phase with revenues between $2MM and $5MM”

  • Market verticals: We don’t focus exclusively on one type of company; our experience spans software, data, marketing, professional services and consulting.
